Playstation 20th Anniversary PS4 Revealed

Playstation Blog has revealed a special PS4 to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original Playstation back in 1994. The article goes on to say "Sony Computer Entertainment, founded by my mentor Ken Kutaragi, was a project borne out of sincere passion and deep admiration for the craft of game development. The mid 90s were an exciting time for game developers, driven by the explosion of powerful but affordable 3D graphics rendering hardware and the birth of many young and adventurous development studios. The original PlayStation was meant to embody that sense of adventure and discovery, that sense that anything was possible."

This news comes on the heels of the Playstation Experience that Sony held in Las Vegas, Nevada two weeks ago. This special PS4 is in extremely limited supply and has gone for $20,000 on ebay.

Spider-Man is Doing Whatever a Sony Can

Marvel Studios and Sony have been in talks about allowing Spider-Man to appear in a Marvel movie. Those talks reportedly fell through, but word has it that pressure from Sony Pictures’ parent company might cause the two to start up again -- and that the friendly neighborhood spider might yet team up with the Avengers onscreen. Though, if that does happen, word is that  Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield will be left in the cold.
Marvel is rumored to give Sony no creative control which could mean bad news for Garfield. Reports also say that Spider-Man will be making his debut in Captain America: Civil War. Sony chief Amy Pascal had a major issue with Marvel’s wish to remove Garfield from the role, which is something that The Wall Street Journal also emphasized when they broke the Marvel/Sony story here.

Street Fighter 5 Announced, Coming Exclusively to PS4 and PC

Capcom has announced Street Fighter 5 along with some shocking news to the video game community. Street Fighter 5 will be exclusive to PS4 and PC. At Playstation Experience in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this month a Playstation representative told a room full of the press that the PS4 is the only console Street Fighter 5 will ever be on. They also went on to say that Capcom has been working with Sony in the development of SFV since the beginning of production.

This comes as a huge blow to the Xbox One community as it completely cuts them off to one of the biggest fighting game franchises of all time. Some more positive news to come out of the event was the announcement of cross-platform play between the PS4 and PC.

What is Pepsi Dewing?

Courtesy: www.gawker.com

Pepsi has had some great success with different flavors of Mountain Dew over the years. Drinks like Code Red and Live Wire are staples of the franchise while Baja Blast is Taco Bell's pride and joy. Well now Pepsi is trying something out of left field, Doritos flavor Mountain Dew. You read that right, the cheesy flavor of Doritos with the sugary substance that is Mountain Dew.
It's not available for sell now but Pepsi is testing it out at college campuses around the United States. Who better to test it on than college students who can only afford pop and chips to eat? Only time will tell if this drink makes it on to store shelves. For now, we're stuck with just eating our Doritos.

Marvel and DC Movie Line-ups

A lot of comic book movies have been announced lately. These pictures should help organize a time line of when they are released.

DC has ten movies slated to release within the next six years. Justice League will be a two-part movie experience while key members of JL will get their own movies throughout the cycle of upcoming movies. Batman vs Superman will star both characters in the title as well as Wonder Woman. Whether any other JL members will be a part of the film is still up in the air. Suicide Squad is about a band of villians including the likes of Harley Quinn and Deadshot. Superman's arch-enemy, Lex Luthor, is rumored to be involved with the film.

Details surrounding Marvel's line-up are pretty scares with the announcement dropped less than a month ago. Marvel Studios has nine movies planned within the next five years. Captain America: Civil War will most likely revolve around the 2006-2007 seven part mini series about the U.S. government forced super heroes to register their true identities or stop being heroes. This story line pitted Iron Man, who sided with the government, against Captain America, who believed that registering was wrong. Marvel's big hero team, The Avengers, will see the same treatment as Justice League with a two-part movie story line. The films will be titled Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet Part I & II.

November is Leaving Gamer's Wallets Empty

November is half way over and some of the year's most anticipated video games have released including; Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Assassin's Creed: Unity, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. In the second half of the month more AAA titles are on the way.

This list includes:
Nov 18 - GTA V (PC, PS4, XBO)
             - Dragon Age: Inquistion (PC, PS3, PS4, X360, XBO)
             - Far Cry 4 (PC, PS3, PS4, X360, XBO)
             - Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS3, X360)
             - Watch Dogs (WiiU)
Nov 21 - Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (WiiU)
             - Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Version (3DS)

GTA V was released September of 2013 to record breaking numbers on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The publisher, Take-Two Interactive, has stated that in their 2014 fiscal year, Grand Theft Auto V sold over 33 million copies. That 33 million copies equates to approximately $2 billion in revenue from the sandbox action-adventure game, this number doesn't include micro-transactions made in Grand Theft Auto Online.
The release on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One marks many new features and graphical improvements to the best selling game of 2013. New vehicles, weapons, activities, animal life, and over 100 new songs are being added to the Next-Gen release. A surprising new feature is the addition of a 1st-person mode built from the ground up for the new version. The new mode includes over 3000 new animations for weapons alone.

Minecraft has a New Owner

Minecraft, the simple block building game that has sold over 100 million units, has now been sold to Microsoft for $2.5 billion. Minecraft, developed by independent developer, Mojang, first picked up steam back in 2009 when the alpha was first publicly released on PC. Five years later, Minecraft is now on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Android, iOS, Mac, Linux, and with plans to release on PS Vita. Markus "Notch" Perrson, the founder of Mojang and brain behind Minecraft will be leaving the company as it is handed over to Microsoft. He posted online after the deal was made saying "It's not about the money. It's about my sanity." Notch, recently opened up about the burden of owning Minecraft, which became much larger than he ever thought possible. Although Microsoft is the creator of Xbox, they plan to continue development and support of the game on all devices and platforms following it's aquisition of Mojang and Minecraft. Getting Things Started

Courtesy: www.attackofthefanboy.com
So this is my intro post. My name is Dakota and I am currently a college student. My plan for this blog is to bring mainly entertainment news that would appeal to most mainstream nerds and put it on this page. I also plan on doing spotlights on different topics that relate to everything nerdy. I've thrown around the word nerd a couple times already so I guess I should explain what that entails to me. A nerd is someone with an interest in something uncommon. Everyone is nerdy about something whether it be cars, sports, or stamps. This blog will revolve around the typical nerd material; comics, movies, video games, technology, cool scientific news, and phone apps. As I get this thing up and running I will try out different formats and layouts in order to best get across my best blog setup so bare with me. This blog will mostly not have any personal comments from me unless I decide to have a particular section for that. Well I think I've explained about as much as possible and I hope to have some more up soon. Thanks.
